How to get on Artnet as an artist
Artnet gallery representation gives artists a professional route to present available work in an established art-market environment. Studio 54 Fine Art reviews each application and, for accepted artists, prepares a focused profile and inventory through its gallery programme.
Artnet is not a substitute for a clear artistic practice. The strongest results begin with coherent work, accurate records and disciplined pricing. Our role is to turn those materials into a consistent gallery presentation and provide a professional contact when interest develops.
- Up to 30 professionally prepared works
- Biography and statement positioning
- Artwork data and pricing review
- International gallery context
- Collector enquiry support
What Artnet gallery representation includes
Membership may include up to 30 accepted works. We organise the artist biography, statement, images and artwork information, then maintain titles, dates, media, dimensions, editions, prices and availability. A focused selection is agreed so the profile has a recognisable visual direction.
Accepted artists receive more than a technical upload. They receive gallery context, a professional enquiry route and practical guidance on records and pricing. Where an artwork does not meet presentation or platform standards, we explain the issue and agree a replacement or correction.
Preparing work for Artnet
Photograph each work squarely in even light and provide a detail image where surface or technique matters. Include framed and unframed dimensions where relevant, note signatures, specify edition size and artist proofs, and confirm the work’s current location.
Price consistency is critical. A collector should not find the same work at materially different public prices. We review the relationship between size, medium, edition and career stage so the portfolio reads professionally across channels.
Artnet membership price and sales terms
Artnet membership is €50 per month for a 12-month programme. Combined Artnet and Artsy membership is €100 per month. Studio 54 Fine Art’s standard split on a completed sale is 60% to the artist and 40% to the gallery.
Artists retain ownership until sold. They are responsible for keeping availability current and for safe packing. Shipping, insurance, customs and transaction-specific responsibilities are confirmed before a sale completes. Membership supports visibility and representation but does not guarantee sales.
Artnet or Artsy—or both?
The right choice depends on the artist’s work, career stage and goals. Artnet can support art-market visibility and a substantial inventory; Artsy provides another widely used collector-facing environment. A combined programme creates broader presence but only makes sense when the portfolio and administration can remain accurate across both.
Read our Artsy guide for artists and the membership comparison before deciding. Accepted artists can also ask for guidance during onboarding rather than choosing a platform without context.
Apply for Artnet artist representation
Submit five to ten recent works, not the full archive. Include a biography, statement, website or social link, prices and any current gallery agreements. We review artistic quality, coherence, market fit and professional readiness.
If accepted, you will receive the current agreement and full terms before making a commitment. The process is selective, transparent and designed for artists who want a long-term professional presentation rather than a quick anonymous listing.
Building an Artnet-ready inventory
An inventory of up to 30 works should show depth without repetition. Begin with the strongest current series, then add complementary works that clarify scale, medium or development. Avoid filling every available position with weak or unavailable pieces. A collector should understand the practice quickly and then discover enough variety to continue exploring.
For unique works, confirm the piece is available and not promised elsewhere. For photographs and editions, document edition size, number, artist proofs, print process, substrate and framing. If the same image exists in several sizes, state whether each size has its own edition. This precision protects scarcity and prevents confusion during a serious enquiry.
Keeping representation accurate over 12 months
Gallery representation is an ongoing administrative relationship. Artists must report sales, reservations, price changes, exhibitions and newly available work. The gallery can then remove unavailable items, update records and decide when new work strengthens the profile. Stale inventory frustrates collectors and damages credibility.
The 12-month structure gives the presentation time to develop while creating a clear period for administration and review. Visibility may build through artist-name searches, platform browsing, gallery links and marketing. Performance should be assessed through presentation quality, relevant enquiries and long-term positioning as well as immediate sales. No credible gallery can promise that every accepted artist will sell within a fixed period.
